The Little Things make the difference!
It could never happen to me, but it did. On Friday the 24th June 2005 one of my staff had an accident in my car and wrote it off. Six days before the 30th June, the busiest time of our industry and now I was without a car. My intention was to buy a car prior to the end of the financial year as it obviously provided excellent benefits to the company as I could claim the GST in my next BAS and I would be able to access the end of year sales that the car yards were offering and I could then get on with running the company.
I spoke to the insurer and lodged the claim on the Saturday with their accident assist and they started the ball rolling from there. The claims team was into action on Monday and car was assessed on the Wednesday. An offer to write the car off and provide a cash payout was made at 2:30pm on Thursday the 30th June. I had already been shopping for my new car in anticipation that this would happen and in 6 days I was driving my replacement car. I had hired an equivalent car for the week so I was not inconvenienced. Not a bad result really, personally I was expecting worse.
But it was the little things that can either annoy you or assist in the process. Things like:
- Hire car after accident not just theft;
- New vehicle replacement within 2 years and not just 1 year;
- Ensuring the accessories that are on the vehicle are actually noted on the policy;
Unfortunately the devil is in the detail but that is what Eagle Insurance Brokers can help you understand. Your business needs special attention to ensure that the little things are covered as when everything goes wrong, not just with your car insurance but your business, commercial property and especially your liability and professional indemnity. At the wrong time of the year, make sure you are only inconvenienced by the accident and not the insurance policy.
There is only no substitute for a cheap insurance policy except for the right policy providing the right cover at the right price and that’s our job to find it for you.
